Game crash
Hi !
I'm having a slight problem with the game : it crashes right when I try to launch the campaign...
Here is the crashlog:
[Version: N/A] - [This resource could not be created.] -> Ã Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Audio.AudioEngine..ctor(String settingsFile, TimeSpan lookAheadTime, String rendererId)
à RingRunnerLib.Audio.AudioManager.Initialize() dans C:\Users\Paul Dryere\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\RingRunner\RingRunnerLib\Audio\AudioManager.cs:ligne 229
à RingRunner.RingRunnerGame.LoadContent() dans C:\Users\Paul Dryere\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\RingRunner\RingRunner\RingRunnerGame.cs:ligne 169
à Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game.Initialize()
à RingRunner.RingRunnerGame.Initialize() dans C:\Users\Paul Dryere\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\RingRunner\RingRunner\RingRunnerGame.cs:ligne 147
à Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game.RunGame(Boolean useBlockingRun)
à RingRunner.Program.Main(String[] args) dans C:\Users\Paul Dryere\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\RingRunner\RingRunner\Program.cs:ligne 21
I already tried to set the settings lower, to uninstall and reinstall the game and I don't have any idea what more I can do to resolve the problem...
Any recommendation?

Re: Game crash
Hi and welcome to the forums hohoho,
The Version: N/A at the beginning of the log is strange as it should read Version: 0.9.9.8.
This crash should have occurred when you just barely launched the game. Are you saying it happened when you clicked Single Player->Begin campaign?
My first suggestion would be to check if you have an old version of the Microsoft XNA Framework redistributable. You should have XNA Framework 4.0 Refresh. You can download it here.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27598
Make sure you uninstall any older version of the XNA Framework as they could be causing the problem.
If you are still having problems you could make sure you have the latest .Net 4 Framework Client. You can download it here. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24872
If you are still having problems, posting your system specs could help me track down potential problems.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Paul

Re: Game crash
Thank you for answering so fast!
Yes the game crashes after I click begin campaign, it loads a little and then crashes.
I uninstalled XNA Framework 4.0 Refresh and .Net 4 Framework Client and reinstalled them using your links but it still doesn't work...
Any idea?

Re: Game crash
Hmm and it writes a new crash report every time? The thing that is confusing me is that the crash log you posted points to a function that isn't even called during level loading. Would you mind posting your system specs?
Also, could you check what is says at the bottom left of the main menu, it should have a version number for the game there. It should be version 0.9.9.8.

Re: Game crash
You're right, the log doesn't correspond, I deleted it and the crash actually doesn't generate a log.
But at least the version showed at the bottom is 0.9.9.8.
As for my specs:
Windows 7 64bits
Nvidia GeForce GT 540M
8192MB RAM
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz

Re: Game crash
Hmm, another person with a mobile Nvidia card was having the same problem. I'll have to look into what the problem might be.
In the meantime could you try lowering your resolution to the minimum and giving it a try, just wanna make sure it isn't a video memory issue.

Re: Game crash
Would you happen to be running multiple monitors? Also did you just install Ring Runner for the first time, or did you have the beta version previously?

Re: Game crash
I might have found a solution. Check this forum out http://www.gamedev.net/topic/619703-failed-to-create-device-with-feature-level-11/
The info is in the first reply. It seems like maybe the game isn't accessing your video card.
Please get back to me if this works, so I can inform the other people having the same problem, thanks.

Re: Game crash
It's now working!!!
Your answer lies in your last post, I programmed my nvidia card to be used for ring runner and it resolved my problem!
Thank you for your help, and sorry for the trouble...

Re: Game crash
It's no trouble really. Every problem we solve will become a precedent case in the future! Well, we all knew that XNA doesn't get along well with video cards, but still. Now we have a course of action that has been confirmed to solve problems.hohoho456 wrote:It's now working!!!
