Multiplayer & No Servers

Greetings,

I've been enjoying the singleplayer of this game so far. Unfortunately I do not seem to be able to find any servers for this game in multiplayer. My game list is simply empty no matter what region I choose.

Is multiplayer broken or nobody playing this game?

If you downloaded the game from GoG, please make sure to get the latest update, as the game requires players to have the same version number in order to matchmake.

Checking our servers, players have been playing on the US and Europe servers somewhat regularly. The US server seems to be the most popular atm.

Don't be afraid to start a game, you can play all modes (except for deathmatch) without having to wait for another player. The game allows for drop in/out and host migration. All multiplayer missions dynamically scale difficulty based on the number of players.

A good chunk of our player base got the game from GoG, and GoG doesn't allow for automatic patching, so people are running different versions.

Most players are still probably going through the campaign, as it is quite lengthy.

We are designing our MOBA mode to allow players to jump right into multiplayer.

We will likely need to get greenlit on steam before we have a big enough community to insure multiple games are up at all times.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I applied the patch and am running version 0.9.9.11 full. I am very much enjoying the singleplayer part for that alone the game was worth it. But I hope the community will grow strong so we can have some more servers running

We are putting out version 1.0.0.0 today, should be up on GoG either later today or tomorrow.

We really hope the community grows as well.  Put a lot of effort into creating an enjoyable multiplayer experience.

... we need an IRC. It's like Skype chat, but for everyone, in real time. Would make organizing and finding Multiplayer games so much easier. I know SPAZ has one, for example, even though it doesn't actually have Multiplayer.

Meanwhile, everyone should get on skype or something.

I got my copy from GOG as well, and despite updating, I must still be behind with version 1.0.0.0, because the game list is always empty for me. I assume it'll catch up eventually, but... Man, I'm loving this game so much, I can't wait to try multiplayer!

I've spent a bunch of time putting together a mean little DSD to fly around with, and intend to tweak so much more. The whole concept of a well done, open-ended customization of playstyles for an extremely fast-paced action game like this is something I've been wanting to see for a long, long time!

Unfortunately I'm currently on holiday, forcing me to stay forumside. I got no Mouse or proper setup.

Might get some wiki progress done, however, if I'm lucky.

Hey, it's me again!
I've been checking the US East room lists every day, and commonly making public rooms myself, but have yet to see another server or player, which leads me to believe I'm still "broken." I still have the latest version 1.0.0.0 from GOG. Am I doing something wrong, or is there really nobody else around?

Also as a small side-note - My fingers are starting to hurt dropping mines, since I wind up spending a lot of time pressing the keys constantly.  I like the loadout, but otherwise think I'll need to switch to other weapons.  I wish I could hold the keys down, but I'd understand if that means too many mines.

The game has been patched to 1.0.0.1, the GoG version has to go through the people at GoG before it gets released. This usually means a 1 to 2 day delay. We will hopefully slow down with the patches soon, we are just trying to tighten the game up as much as possible.

Our next couple of patches will focus on multiplayer. We are going to be focusing on lowering the amount of time a player needs to invest in order to have a ship capable of holding its own in a match. We will also be releasing a MOBA mode in the coming months which we hope will attract a larger pool of players.

I'm also on Holiday currently, with a PC that after the latest BSOD has to be run in safe mode to get anything done within a reasonable time frame at all. Need to run a few memtests ASAP.

I also have no sound in safe mode. You'll have to watch TB's WTF is without me.

Definitely appreciate the patches though!  I'll send GOG my thoughts.

I'm also getting a blank multi-player server list for all regions.
I think it also briefly displayed a "Can't retrieve list" error (Or something like that.)

Currently running V1.0.0.3 downloaded from the Groupees bundle site directly. (Not from Desura.)

Any ideas? (I'm re-downloading from Desura incase the version I have is out of date or something.)

After beating the Single player story I was really looking forward to Multiplayer.

The game needs to get onto Steam in order to have the sort of numbers necessary to have a thriving multiplayer community. Every vote on Steam Greenlight helps, so tell your friends!  

We have a couple of things lined up in the near future that we hope will bring more players to multiplayer.

Your game is impressive, I hope you get the Steam greenlight you seek.

Is there any reason why you aren't updating Ring Runner on the Desura platform? Should I abandon using Desura to play Ring Runner? I rather like Desura personally, I think of it as "the other Steam" but I also really love Ring Runner (lots!) so if I need to go another route to stay up to date and play multiplayer then I'll do it.:

If your Desura copy of Ring Runner has an icon on your desktop to run the game through, try that. That should automatically update your game.  Also I think start menu icon may work that way too. After updating this way, running the game through Desura itself may not work.

Isn't perfect, but from what I understand, Desura and others aren't playing very nicely with the style of installer / updater he's using.

No joy for the desktop shortcut but starting from the Windows Start menu did the trick! Thanks for the heads up Ratty!

Maybe I'll be able to find y'all out there in some multiplayer now.

Just curious is there anywhere online where I can check what is the most up to date version?

Right now I'm in version 1.0.0.3 I bought the game from triple B studios so if I'm not up to date please remind me how to update.

If you got the game from anywhere but GoG and you are running it from the desktop icon it creates during installation, it should always be up to date. You have to manually patch the GoG version.

Just make sure you launch from RingRunner.appref-ms.

Ok, that's why the shortcut didn't work. I used the option to create a desktop shortcut through Desura, since I didn't notice the one created by installation in the constant clutter that is my desktop.

No, it's just very few people who play it regularly. I often check it, but haven't seen people on in some time.
You can always add me over Skype. I use the same name, we could play a few.
