Our New Game: Popup Dungeon!

Hey everyone,

In case you hadn't heard, we're working on a new game, Popup Dungeon, and we're running a KICKSTARTER.

Popup Dungeon is a roguelike dungeon crawler for PC, Mac, and Linux that lets players create any weapon, any ability, and any character they can imagine. It’s a papercraft version of an enchanted board game with tactical, turn-based RPG gameplay in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics.

We could really use your help spreading the word, and as always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.

I have to wonder, how are you balancing the spells/abilities/powers? AP (Action points) seems a little vague, yet not. Obviously there's some way to determine balancing of it. I don't suppose you're using another system sorta it's based on, like HeroSystem (Where 5 points equals 1d6, or 3 average damage)?

It's similar to that, but our system is more complicated since the math is handled behind the scenes. Every positive and negative has its weight, but there are also contextual weights. For instance the ability to hit allies or not can boost the potency of an Area of Effect skill, but won't do anything for self-only and single target skills.

Backed the game! I'm really excited for it and can't wait to see some updates on production even though it is going to be a long time out!
