What an awesome game... Empty What an awesome game...

I just picked this up on the Steam sale and have to say...I'm extremely impressed.

Honestly I almost didn't buy it. I generally avoid the more open world style indie titles because they tend to give you a huge world but not that much exciting to do in them. I tend to have more money than time so for the most part I buy AAA games that don't require a large time commitment to beat. From the name, splash art on steam, and low price (honestly this should be $15 or $20) I wasn't expecting much but clicked it anyways. Trailer pretty much sold me on it instantly despite no major reviews out...couldn't believe how awesome and varied the gameplay looked and great music too. It reminded me of an old early 90s PC game I used to play but can't remember the name of...and like the game I was hoping Armada for Dreamcast would be.

So far the game is living up to the high expectations the trailer set. The music is great, graphic effects are awesome, story and missions amusing and moving along quickly. What I was most impressed with though is that everything "works," and with no hassle. I have a bleeding edge PC...three Titans and three 30 inch monitors, and I'm used to having to download hacks/drivers/fixes to get games from even most so-called "AAA developers" to work properly, or disable monitors/GPUs to play indie games. So it was quite a pleasant surprise to see this game running perfectly at 7860x1600 without any fiddling, and with very robust 360 controller support too. Some of the HUD was hidden by my bezels and yup...hassle free option to adjust the scale. Thanks for taking the time to make a polished game...less than a quarter of $50-$60 PC games put in the same effort.

Gamewise I only see two things so far:
-character portraits with the dialogue would add a lot
-option menus took me a long time to realize that the right stick could scroll down to reveal more options. The left stick should go all the way through the entire list.

The main reason I came by is to tell you guys to MARKET THIS GAME. It amazes me that there are not really any major reviews given that this game compares favorably with a lot of good indie games that have 75-85% metacritic scores. My first system was an Atari 2600 and I've probably played over 1000 games, and I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorites. It actually shot up instantly to the top of my priority list along with Mario 3D World...my shiny new PS4 and Xbox One, as well as probably 50+ unplayed Steam games from "AAA devs" are going to be collecting dust while I play this. Keep promoting this game and it will catch on. You guys are good and will be able to raise a lot of money for another game if this one gets the exposure it deserves.

Wow! Thanks so much for the high praise! bounce

I added triple monitor and 4K+ resolution support shortly after the initial GoG release of the game since it was requested.

We simply haven't had the funds necessary to run a marketing campaign until very recently. Now we need to figure out the most cost effective way of getting the word out, since we have a very small budget.

Well the cheapest thing to do would be to get lists of all the sites that are on metacritic and gamerankings and send the game to all of them, maybe along with a letter/email making the case for why the game deserves a review. And definitely link them to a trailer since I think that speaks for itself. I bet you could also probably pretty cheaply put together a "collector's edition" with a physical game/soundtrack/pendant/novel and send it to the more important sites like IGN, Gamespot, Destructoid, etc. They like getting stuff like that and it would help your chances of getting reviews. Opinion on this game is almost unanimously positive...all 9s and 10s on metacritic, 26 positive steam reviews to 2 negative. Not many games are liked by almost everyone who plays them so the bigger sites should take notice.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help. Smile

I really like the collector's edition idea. We have sent out several press releases to the major sites, but you're right, a physical copy has more of a personal touch.

We are trying to get in contact with Polaris, to see the costs of running an event with them. I feel that a good Let's Play video from a prominent YouTuber could help spread the word significantly.

I too was also pleasantly surprised by how much fun this game was. Its well polished and has a lot of customization options.

One day maybe I'll have three monitors to play on... That would probably require taking a lot of side jobs over the weekend.  scratch
