Campaign game crashes
Hey guys
i'm having game crash problems again.
Whenever i try to start the campaign over again (after deleting all my previous save data manually) my game crashes without logging any crash data. Any recommendations on how to fix this? I can make a video of this if needed.

We'll be posting a patch tomorrow that might fix the problem for you. If it doesn't help, try reinstalling the game and starting over from scratch. Deleting or switching saved files can still cause a few issues.

okay thank you

That really is Perplexing! Have you tried clearing your saved data? Go ahead and send us a couple of those crash reports, and we'll see what we can do. It may be a hardware issue that can be resolved by lowering some settings.

Well it isn't logging crash data (still -_-).
I'll try deleting all data and re installing and seeing if that does anything.

If it's not logging a crash report, it's very likely that you're running out of memory. The only other possibility would be a security issue. Have you tried bringing the graphics all the way down? When exactly are the crashes occurring?
Re: Campaign game crashes
yeah, just deleted all data and lower settings, but it still is crashing >n<

Crashing occurs whilst loading the campaign, i presume just as i am going to enter the mission.

Re: Campaign game crashes
Definitely sounds like a memory issue. The only solution is to reduce graphics settings. Start with planet and nebula quality. Then resolution and anti-aliasing, even star density can help slightly.

wait, do you need to restart the game for graphics changes to take effect?

Re: Campaign game crashes
You don't have to restart the game for any of these options anymore. However, you do have to reload the mission for any options that would affect the quality of the background.
I would suggest lowering your settings down to the minimum just to see if the mission will load. At least this way we can be certain it's a memory issue, unless your computer doesn't have sufficient graphical memory to run it even then, but I think it should. We've added very little memory-consuming elements since you were able to successfully run the game.

could it be crashing because i'm running too many background processes and web pages?
Because i've lower the graphics settings all the way and it's still crashing

Re: Campaign game crashes
Hmm, it is possible. Try minimizing all background processes and close all other programs. I don't know why it wouldn't work now if it used to work. How much memory does your video card have?
Re: Campaign game crashes
My graphics card is an Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 with 1698 mb of memory

Hey perplexing, as of last patch I moved where crash reports were being written. They are now being written to Documents/Ring Runner Crash Logs. Could you check if any reports have been written there?

K, that means they aren't being written at all. It is strange that you would be running out of memory even at the lowest possible settings. The game does use a bit more video memory now than it used to, for the new vertex trail effect, and a bit more for the UI. But the increase in memory use is very minor.

Re: Campaign game crashes
Perplexing, have you tried running different missions? Or do you currently only have access to the first mission? I could send you a save file that gets you beyond the intro mission to see if later missions will work for you.

Gah! I don't know what it could be at this point!
Wait a sec though, did you say that multiplayer scenarios work? Because you shouldn't even have access to them if you're using that save file. There must be some kind of corrupted data somewhere.
