Beta download troubles

After following all the install instruction, i get this error;

As well,
and an error occurs when opening the setup.exe shortcut
it reads;

i often have to go into the bin folder and open that setup.exe file to install the program

these errors do not occur when downloading the pre-alpha demo

Did you uninstall the old version of Ring Runner before installing this one? You won't lose your saved data. Just go into your "Programs and Features" under the control panel and uninstall the old version of Ring Runner.

i uninstalled the alpha program, then reinstalled it and uninstalled it and it has still yet to work properly when downloading

... leads me to believe that the previous version is not uninstalling properly, but I'm not sure of the cause. Let's try one thing:

Make sure Ring Runner is uninstalled, then Go to your Start Menu and enter "run" into the search bar, the "run" program should appear at the top of the list, launch it and enter rundll32 dfshim CleanOnlineAppCache into the text field and click ok:



After this, try installing the Beta Build. If that still doesn't work. I will PM you with an alternate build.

Yeah, i have a feeling it has to deal with the fact the first setup file is a shortcut and not an application

Sorry for the delay. We're probably going to have to give you a different version, but we're not sure exactly when we'll be able to put out a new build because the game is currently transitioning to multiplayer mode. As soon as we're able, and even if it's before we put out an official build, we'll try to get you a new version of the game to see if it helps.

After doing more research I have another possible solution to your problem.

To find the folder mentioned above you might need to enable showing hidden folders:

If that doesn't work, the only thing left I can think of is renaming the beta folder to be exactly the same as the alpha folder and installing from the same location you installed the alpha. This will allow the ClickOnce installer to install over the previous version hopefully.

i didn't know that there was files hiding in my appdata folder

just a quick note,
there is a small problem with the installer.
if you already have XNA4 refresh installed it complains and refuses to continue.

solution: deinstal XNA4 refresh

but would still be nice if you guy put in some were on your to do list ^^
