FM/archtype button for keyboard
Picked the game up and quite enjoying it with one glaring exception.
I want to play the game with a pure keyboard control scheme. However, it appears that the FM abilities are simply not rebindable away from the mouse. Having rebound the RMB and LMB this means that I would have to take my hand off the keyboard JUST to FM to use these abilities.
Please, please, please include a way to use FM abilities seperate from the mouse. Double tapping turn, or when in keyboard mode make the FM override key just a way to bind FM to a keypress. or something.
As it stands im going to play the game without FM abilites, but I feel like im missing out

Archetype abilities are on FM because they require directional input. You can go without directional abilties though. They're useful, but you can always equip another ability instead.

yeah, but directional input could be utilized with the directional keys you are using with keyboard mapping (left, right, thrust, dampiner, for example). Either with double tapping or when pressing the FM override button.
Of course, the only one I have got so far is the barrel roll thingie. I havent had the opprotunity to equip my ships yet (either im missing where you do that or im not far enough into the campaign yet) so I dont know if the others need to be more precise than that.
but yes, either a pure keyboard method gets implemented or I wont be using those.

The evasion drive is tetradirectional, and the Rogue's decoy feint only has two meaningful directions. However, the flail available to grapplers requires higher precision, and of course if you're facing certain directions, you might end up making the evasion drive throw you in the wrong direction.

Re: FM/archtype button for keyboard
I found this same problem annoying when i didn't have a wireless 360 hub.
The added archetype activation could be one of two things, first it could be a simple toggle that activates on the next direction feedback (like holding down the shift and then pressing up, would be the same as swinging the mouse up). Second is to specify the 8 directions, letting you put it anywhere on the keyboard that's reasonable.
Third option, is to ignore it entirely and use the extra slots for something else. I've done this before when i first started, and although i can't say i got the full feel of the game, it was very similar to a previous game i played that i didn't feel like i was missing much. Eventually the backwards controls got to me (as i was used to moving with my right hand with direction keys, and not my left hand with WASD).
I recommend if you have a wired 360 controller, use that instead. Short of that, ignore the archetype (if you haven't already got your brain committed to a previous scheme due to Operation Inner Space or something like that).
