Universe Map glitch in Newest patch [Fresh Install]

I recently installed Ring Runner on a new machine (Win 8.1 x64) , having played it thoroughly on two other machines (both Win 7 x64).

Install was a breeze, no problems there, and I loaded my old save up and can continue from where I was, it runs just fine. The problem is whenever I go into the universe map now the cursor moves without any input on the mouse or keyboard, and this makes it impossible to select any of the different sectors. I have searched and it seems no-one else has posted about or had this problem  - -  I have also tried messing with all the mouse settings to no avail. I'll post specs if they'll help - -

OS: Win 8.1 x64
Processor: Intel Core i7-4700MQ
RAM: 32GB
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 780M

Not strictly a solution or related error, but... scrolling down the mission list for a galaxy, in particular the Litter Glitter Galaxy for its size, causes the scrolling to bug out and go all the way to the bottom. I had to drag the slider to get it right. Could you look into that as well?

Would you happen to have a controller or any other secondary input device connected to your computer? I'm thinking it might be a gamepad joystick reporting erroneous input that is triggering the input to automatically switch to gamepad mode.

I've tried scrolling the galaxy mission lists in every way possible and all seem to work okay on my end. Could you try scrolling by holding [Down Arrow] and see if it does the same thing. I'm guessing it is some sort of error reading the mousewheel.

Paul - Thanks for your reply. No other peripherals are plugged into my laptop aside from my mouse, and my touchpad is turned off. I'll try messing with the drivers for the touchpad as that's the only other thing I can think of.

Hmm, how is the map cursor moving? Is it a constant direction or jittery?

When the cursor isn't placed on a system, it sort of drifts towards the nearest one, then when on a system, it jitters about, preventing a selection from being made from the map. I just tried it with my trackpad as well and I'm getting the same issue.

Hmm, very strange. I'll try and make the selection radius for the map nodes a bit more generous. Does the jitter keep the cursor very close to the node or is it severe?

It keeps it fairly close to the node, it also prevents me from being able to select it though., clicking at any stage during the jitter seems to have no effect.

Yeah, widening the radius of when the map node is actually selectable should fix the problem. Though I'm still not entirely sure why the jitter is there in the first place.

I'll have the fix in for next patch, which unfortunately might be a week or two since it will be coming along with our Steam release.

Cool, thanks! It is weird, I should update the game on my other machines and see if the same bug appears, because it wasn't there in the last version. I'm glad you finally got on Steam, too, congrats.

Hi I came here to say I have the same problem on my HP laptop with windows 7. I turned off everything including the mouse / touchpad and the selection "dot" keeps moving about and jittering.

What version of the game are you running? You can see the version on the bottom left of the main menu screen.
Is the jittering preventing you from selecting the map node?

I downloaded right from GoG.

I am also at the "freeroam" part of the game and since I can't select anything I am unable to progress.

Try downloading the update from GoG. The version should be at 1.1.0.0. If the update doesn't get you to that version or the problem persists, please tell me.

Yeah I got the update. It still bounces around the place in the universe map whenever I try to move to a dot however I can actually select locations now. It is just a mild annoyance but I can now play the game.
