Test mode in hull customization
As much as I really like playing around with my hulls by adding and removing abilities to see how they work together, I kinda find it frustrating there is no way to test my ship out before I try a scenario and what not.
I feel like there should be a blank test map, or maybe a series of test maps populated with different objects, to test out new hull/ability combinations and what not.
Just felt like I should throw in my two cents about that.

We are definitely planning on adding something like this before release.

I am treating the Spire Battle as a test mode currently... just jump in and kill all the confused ships that think they can mess with you, with whatever ability you choose.
I still can't tell the three Bars in the Loadout screen apart though. I know the Top one is capacity, but I cannot remember whether the second or the third bar was regen, and no clue what the last ability was. Recovery? Something like that.

Top bar is capacity, middle bar is over capacity (the second bar that fills up for energy and heat), and the bottom bar is regen.

Re: Test mode in hull customization
Sorry to dig up an old thread but I was wondering if we were going to be getting a test room to test out our ships before they go out on missions? Or if its already there, how to access it.
Off topic, but using a controller, I can't seem to figure out how to select different sections of the ship to put parts on, I always need to switch back to mouse for that.

Hey Jinx,
I usually just use one of the many Scenarios (usually Wave Mode) on a lower difficulty to put my new templates through their paces. As for using the controller in the customize screen, you should be able to navigate it with the left stick, just move it in the direction that you would want the cursor to move.

Re: Test mode in hull customization
Although I am using some of the scenarios to test my builds, a test mode still would be nice, although more for binding configurations. Perhaps a quick set of scenario options in the hanger, move through a maze, a race, etc.
- half ranting:
Perhaps internally it could have it run vs some battles (without displaying them) and give percentages against certain types of foes via AI runs. But where the AI is weaker than a good player this doesn't mean much, and the AI isn't programmable either, so tweaking equipment and AI won't work too well. Hmmm...

It'd be great to have a couple of different testing "arenas" to try things out. Definitely if the multiplayer takes off.
