Ai battle arena
Is there, or do you plan to have, an AI arena style mode? Just some thing that you can put in a ship, one you use or built from scratch on the spot, to see how the Ai would use it vs other Ai. It would work great as a "testing grounds" area to see how builds and parts can work. My friend and I think this would also work as a "middle ground" as we like to see who can make the better ship, but it always comes down to skill and who has played it most, not the ships themselves. With Ai on both, it would come down to ships and luck, not skill. Would anyone else like a mode like this?

This is definitely possible, would you want it as an online mode or would being able to do it locally be good enough?
P.S. I've almost finished up the new version of the pre alpha demo. I'm hoping you will be able to play past the mission you got stuck on.

I would love online, but a local is more than good enough. Also, can it have one vs one, last man standing, and team deathmatch? And can you chose to set all of the Ai with your ships or set them as a random or semi-random generations(You could say, set one to be a caster, but hull and parts are random, and another as a grappler with a specific hull and random parts.)
Also, can you give me an idea of what the limit on Ai will be? I personally would be happy with ten on last man standing, and six vs six on team deathmatch.
P.S. Thanks for your help with this and my crashing problem, it is always nice to see an indie going the extra mile for the fans.
P.S.S. Just out of curiosity, is there a skill(probably for grapplers) that lets you release a ball of used peanut butter cups or random garbage behind you, to use as ammo or to stall anyone chasing you? I could see the peanut butter cup ball having a three second slow effect and a skill description of "So THIS is what nero does with the empty cups..."

Re: Ai battle arena
The game can handle handle 20 v 20 AI pilot matches pretty easily, depending on map complexity and the skill level of the AI. All AI have a piloting stat that ranges from 0 to 1 which governs their reaction time, aim, decision making and navigation skills. Higher piloting stats require more computations.
The hangar in our game has 5 bays, the first bay is the ship you launch into the mission with. We plan to use the other 4 bays in a variety of ways, from being able to respawn as a different hull in spire battles, to having them be your companions in wave mode etc. I could see these bays being used for the scenarios you described.
Haha no, there is currently no peanut butter cup ability, but one of our Kickstarter rewards is being able to design an ability.
The closest thing to the ability you described would be the Fighter's Star Duster ability. It leaves a trail of dust behind your ship that causes friction on enemy ships and projectiles that come into contact with it.

Re Ai battle arena
Wonderful! Will will you be able to make "blueprints" for ships? It would be nice to have builds that i don't use all the time, but i can have saved to add to the hanger for use,or for this arena without needing to remake them from scratch, plus they could be shared with friends easily.
Also, a little sad that is not a skill, but maybe someone else will donate the money and add it.Until then, we will still have the question of what nero does with all the empty cups....

Yes each hull can currently have an unlimited amount of user specified templates which save all equipment and key binds for that blueprint. You can save and load templates with the click of a button in the same screen that you are selecting equipment for your hull.
